last night i woke myself up from a dream, as in, i was in the dream, and realized, “this is the weirdest dream ever.” and so i woke myself up so i could consciously say to myself, “woah, that is the weirdest dream ever!” it goes like this…
i was a towel.
as in, david crowder was not a human anymore, but a white, fluffy towel, folded on a shelf. it was actually quite pleasant. i seemed pretty happy.
weirdest dream ever?

what does it mean? jack, our (dc*b) guitar player, sent me this video and told me that it was culturally relevant. i never doubt jack, especially when he sends me videos. and so i post it here now, so we can contribute to the current metaphysical, esoteric conversation regarding natural phenomenon.
jack’s video response to Hungrybear9562’s video: Yosemitebear Mountain Giant Double Rainbow 1-8-10. behold, Triple Wolf Moon.

since it has been so long since my last post, i really wanted to say something clever and substantial here. instead, i give you this:
you know how entertaining it is to stumble upon whole pockets of culture that exist despite your ignorance of them? i have had numerous discoveries broaden my understanding of the eccentricities of humanity.
whether it be circuit benders:

the apocalypse, duh.
i’m hoping you’ve already seen this, but in case you haven’t, here’s something that i might be so bold as to call, “a real treat.” it is rockumentary number 5. i mentioned the plot line in one of my answers to the q and a that kicked off this new blog, and it is as follows: jack has become obsessed with the 2012 apocalypse, most likely because he watched that preposterous movie, 2012, which starred john cusack. he, jack, not john cusack, has begun ...

the day eddie vedder taught me how to surf
first of all, there was a rainbow. now, given that we were in hawaii, this is not so significant. here, there are rainbows everyday. it is a magical rainbow land. they have rainbows on their license plates, just rubbing it in: “yeah, we have rainbows, like, all the time.” my texas license plate proudly proclaims, “the lone star state,” yet has exactly 23 stars, a moon, a cowboy riding a horse across a plateau-like terrain, two oil wells, two desert plants, and a space shuttle. the ...

everything you expect... plus! a whole lot more
we, the david crowder*band, have a developing theory that we frequently pull out, to laugh about and add to, and it is this: there is a grocery store on the outskirts of waco, texas, this beautiful metropolis we call home, that we are convinced is a psychological testing facility. i say this and you don’t take me seriously. but i am. i am serious. it is the only reasonable explanation for the store’s layout. i mean, we all know that grocery stores, and the magical stocking thereof, are ...

crowder's fantastical church music conference.
i have some exciting news.
i am putting on a conference, yes, you read that correctly, i am putting on a conference. it will be called, “crowder’s fantastical church music conference.” and here’s what i’m wondering – who you think i should include in this conference, as far as presenters go. i mean, i have a lot of ideas and have been talking to many of my friends about this, but i suspect you’d have some ideas that i’ve neglected. my hope is that it will let ...

finally, a's to the q's in two parts: part two.
Question!
I attended the A Collision Cd release party in Waco Texas. While there we were handed out FREE dvds. Inside the DVD was a link to download acoustic songs from A Collision. You guys however did give a very special treat by giving away a free download of a song called Bent/dear katrina! This song is pretty intense and yet I can never figure out the words! Once and a while i think i have it and when i let someone else listen to it they suggest a alternative. It has ...

What are the mechanized voices saying in “Church Music – Dance?
dear george, bethany, and joe. the mechanized voices, (which are produced by one jack partker) are saying the following: s-h-o-u-t shout it from your l-u-n-g-s oh we s-i-n-g-i-t-l-o-u-d. there may also be a brief reference to peppermint mocha being the tastiest beverage offered by the ubiquitous franchise chain, starbucks coffee, but it’s impossible to be sure.

hope you had a fantastic thanksgiving. the cowboys beat oakland, which isn’t saying much, but still, it was a nice finish to the afternoon.
also, i have to say, “thank you,” to everyone who came out to a stop on the church music tour. it was amazing and you are a star for showing up and sharing an evening with us and our friends. it was a blast! i’m sad it is over but looking forward to a bit of time in waco.

veterans day - marching bands of waco
happy veterans day. (it feels weird to type, “happy,” in that sentence. it’s just what came out.) today, on a number of occasions, i got more than a little choked up, feeling thankfulness well-up from some quiescent space inside of my chest for the men and woman who have sacrificed to defend our country. all of the words i take for granted, like, “democracy,” and, “freedom,” and, “liberty,” and, “justice,” were in my head today.
i went to the veterans day parade ...

the epicness of bloggery
i’d like to kick this thing off with a little honesty. it has been a struggle to decide whether a blog was even necessary. i mean, as a band, we have a myspace, a facebook, a twitter, a website, a youtube page, is there really need for a blog? the answer is yes, and I’ll demonstrate.
what follows could never find an appropriate home in any of those other environments. no, what follows requires space for explanation and context and it requires skill and fortitude from the reader ...
